On June 11 within the framework of the event “Civil Society Day in the RA National Assembly” a press conference dedicated to Civil Society Day was held.
In her remarks the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan has noted that celebrating Civil Society Day has already become a tradition which gives an opportunity to contact with the public. “The contact with the public should be one of the main factors of the viability for the deputies, which gives birth to new ideas and proposals,” Mrs Naghdalyan said.
The NA Chief of Staff-General Secretary Hrayr Tovmasyan, congratulating on Civil Society Day, has stated that due to NGOs a potential has been accumulated, and leaving it unused will be inadmissible for the state institutions and the National Assembly. “Sometimes the positions, clarifications and analyses of the representatives of the civil society over the most important issues are much deeper than the ones by the professional organizations,” Hrayr Tovmasyan noted, expressing confidence that ways of effective cooperation will be found, and their results will not make us wait long.
According to the representative of the Civil Society Arpine Hakobyan, this is a platform, where the representatives not only make proposals, but also discuss together the legislative proposals which will become an occasion for cooperation in future.
Shaun McNally, Chief of Party, Support to the Armenian National Assembly Program (SANAP) highlighted the role of the civil society among the public and thanked the NA Speaker and the Chief of Staff for the effective cooperation.
