On June 11 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan received Ali Kaeidi, the Head of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the members of the Friendship Group.

Welcoming the guests in the parliament, Galust Sahakyan has noted with satisfaction that Armenia-Iran relations continue to develop in the atmosphere of mutual trust. The Head of the Parliament has highlighted the implementation of the economic programmes within the designed terms, which will give an opportunity to raise the level of the relations to a new qualitative degree. During the meeting the NA Speaker has highly assessed the warm attitude of the IRI authorities towards the Armenian community of Iran. Touching upon the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial Galust Sahakyan stated that representatives from about 60 countries took part in the Global Forum held in Armenia on April 22-24 and in the ceremonies commemorating the Genocide victims. The NA President informed that the RA National Assembly initiated to create an inter-parliamentary platform of international cooperation “Parliaments against Genocides.”

Thanking for the warm reception Ali Kaeidi, the Head of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group, emphasized the active cooperation of the parliamentary delegations of the two countries. Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh problem, he has noted that in this issue the authorities of Iran are sure that the conflict should be solved through peaceful negotiation means.

In the course of the meeting Galust Sahakyan discussed a number of issues of bilateral interest with Ali Kaeidi, particularly, the Armenia’s accession to the EEU, the intensification of the parliamentary relations and activities of the Friendship Groups.
