Japanese Cherry Trees Are Planted in the National Assembly Park

On May 20 a planting ceremony of the Japanese cherry trees, sakuras, took place in the National Assembly Park.

Chikahito Harada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Japan Friendship Group Samvel Farmanyan, the members of the Group, the employees of the Embassy of Japan and the NA Staff took part in the ceremony.

The Ambassador of Japan to the RA has noted that by the ceremony of sakura planting he wishes to complete his diplomatic mission in Armenia. In his word, the symbol of Japan, sakura, will always remind us about the two peoples’ firm friendship.

Highlighting Mr Harada’s significant role in the development of the Armenian-Japanese relations, in the opening of the Embassy of Japan in Armenia, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Japan Friendship Group Samvel Farmanyan expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador. He has noted that the Japanese cherry trees are planted in the symbolic year for the two peoples: this year marks the Armenian Genocide Centennial and the 70th anniversary of Hirosima and Nagasaki bombing.

In Samvel Farmanyan’s word, the planting of sakuras will symbolize the friendship of the two peoples having historical commonness.

Afterwards, the participants of the event planted the symbolic cherry trees in the NA Park.
