On April 25 the Speaker of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan received Esabelle Dingizian, the Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament.

The NA Speaker has noted that he is impressed by Mrs Dingizian’s influential speech during the Global Forum “Against a Crime of Genocide,” which left a great impression not only on the Armenian, but also foreign participants of the Forum. In the NA Speaker’s word, the goal of the Forum is the remembrance and condemnation of the Genocide: it has already been 100 years that Armenian people fight against the denialism.

The NA Speaker has noted the all Armenians have their own stories connected with the Genocide, and every Armenian fights that the history will not be repeated in the world: the genocides will be prevented. He has documented that the holding of the Global Forum is the beginning of the huge series of events: many events will be held in different parts of the world, as the appeal of the Forum refers not only to the Armenian Genocide, but in general, to genocides, wherever they occur.

In her word, Esabelle Dingizian has stated that it is a great honour for her to be in Yerevan during these days and take part in the Centennial events. She presented to the NA Speaker her impressions from the Global Forum and the commemoration events. Talking about the Swedish Armenian community Mrs Dingizian emphasized the role of the Armenian Embassy and expressed wish for making closer the Armenian-Swedish parliamentary relations. She has stated that with her activities she will promote the development and strengthening of cooperation between the two parliaments.
