On March 4 the deputy of the National Assembly, the member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Ruzanna Muradyan met with Reiner Morell, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Karine Poghosyan also attended the meeting. The interlocutors discussed issues relating to the educational and cultural programmes being implemented by the Embassy of Germany in our country, teaching and disseminating German in Armenia, cooperation between the RA schools, the exchange of teachers and pupils, the development of cooperation between Armenia and Germany, which will promote the expansion of the Armenian-German cultural and educational programmes.

Reiner Morel has noted that there are schools in Armenia which cooperate with Goethe Institute, but that educational institution is not fully represented in Armenia. Germany seeks to find schools in Armenia to be able to cooperate with, as it is concerned about expanding the possibilities of teaching German. The Ambassador has also noted that they have already launched programmes, where the teachers of German language in Armenia, as well as the pupils who can study in Germany for free for one month in summer.

As a Chair of the Union of School-Centres, Ruzanna Muradyan has presented that the Union of School-Centres Union of Legal Entities with its activity promotes the implementation of the educational reforms in the RA, the boosting of school innovations, exchange of best experience, the contribution and dissemination of international progressive experience and the pedagogues’ network cooperation.

In Mrs Muradyan’s opinion, the Armenian-German cooperation in the sphere of education should not be restricted with the programmes concerning only the teaching of German in Armenia: it is necessary to cooperate in the direction of legislative initiatives in the sphere of education, the effective models of the leadership and administration of the school, the effective use of teaching methods and the teachers; exchange. Ruzanna Muradyan also highlighted the implementation of the joint programmes in future and the directions of the development of effective cooperation.

The sides considered the ways of cooperation, within the framework of which the Embassy of Germany will become a platform for the RA schools to take part in the European programmes, giving opportunity to the pupils to communicate with those of their age, to cooperate with the schools of Germany.

The interlocutors also touched upon the educational programmes being implemented by the German Embassy, which will be at the centre of attention of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, and Youth Sport, which will be consistent in order to create favourable conditions for the RA schools to be included in different international programmes, promoting the contribution and dissemination of the international progressive experience.
