On October 12 the RA National Assembly Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov being in Geneva on a working visit within the framework of the 131st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union met with Norbert Lammert, the President of the Bundestag, the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Both parties highlighted the steps to be taken in the direction of strengthening and deepening of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the continuity of the Armenia-European Union partnership.
Touching upon the Armenian-Turkish relations, the NA Vice President considered inadmissible the blockade of Armenia by Turkey, speaking with the neighbouring country with preconditions and the denial of the fact of the Armenian Genocide. He has noticed that in the contrary toGermany, Turkey has taken the cours of falsifying the history.
Eduard Sharmazanov has expressed his gratitude towards the Parliament of Germany for adopting a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide in 2005. He has expressed conviction that by accepting such crimes and condemning them will only be possible to prevent their repetition in future.
Talking about Nagorno Karabakh conflict Eduard Sharmazanov has positively assessed the balanced position of Germany in the issue. He has underlined that Armenia sees the settlement of the problem exclusively through peaceful means, within the framework of the negotiations going on in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The President of the Bundestag in his turn has considered inadmissible the military solution of the conflict.
