Meeting at the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations
1 / 3

On September 22 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with Hans Horbach, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the RA.

Touching upon the bilateral relations Artak Zakaryan highlighted the activation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation of Armenia and the Netherlands, which is not at sufficient level at this moment.

At the guest’s request the Committee Chairman touched upon the RA foreign policy and noted that the RA pursues balanced foreign policy, stemming from the numerous problems existing in the region and the necessity of providing security. Mr Zakaryan also presented the current situation of Armenia’s relations with the European Union and Eurasian Economic Union.

Talking about the events of the Armenian Genocide centenary, Artak Zakaryan thanked the House of the Representatives of the Netherlands for recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide in 2004, which is an important step in the internalization of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as preventing similar crimes and expressed hope that the parliamentary delegation will react and take part in the events dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims to be organized in Armenia in April 2015.

Thanking for the reception the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the RA also highlighted the active and dynamic development of bilateral relations.

The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest and a series of arrangements were made.
