Meeting in the Parliament

On September 22 the Head of the RA NA Armenia-France Friendship Group Ara Babloyan and the members of the group met with Phillip Caltenbach, the Head of France-Armenia Friendship Group of the Senate of the Republic of France and the members of the group. The Head of the Friendship Group Ara Babloyan, welcoming the guests, thanked them for active cooperation and investment programmes, noticing that Armenia-France Friendship Group is the biggest in the RA NA.

Phillip Caltenbach thanked the members of the group for hospitality and noted that during the events to be held on the occasion of the centenary of the Genocide the French people will be next to their friendly people. He also added that for getting acquainted with the Artsakh people he will leave for Nagorno Karabakh Republic on a two-day visit. The members of the NA Armenia-France Friendship Group Karine Atshemyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Levon Martirosyan, Armen Rustamyan, Artak Zakaryan and Mnatsakan Mnatsakanyan also welcomed the guests’ visit, highlighting the development and expansion of the inter-parliamentary relations with the two countries.

Touching upon the events to be organized in Yerevan on the occasion of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide in April 2015, Artak Zakaryan expressed hope that the French MPs will be next to the Armenian people during those days.

Karine Atshemyan referred to the explosion of the Saint Martyrs’ Armenian Church of Der Zor a day ago by the extremist Islamists. She said that in the Armenian Memorial Church relics of numerous Armenians, who died in Der Zor deserts in the Armenian Genocide, are laid. She expressed hope that the French parliamentarians will be consistent in this issue, as it is the problem of all Christian nations.

In the course of the meeting the sides emphasized the problem of strengthening and developing the cooperation of the friendship group, activating the mutual visits and holding joint discussions.
