On the occasion of Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia the President of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan conveyed a congratulatory address.

The address reads:

“Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the 23^rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia.

More than two decades ago we fairly realized the historical opportunity given to us.

The independence continues to remain an apple of discord and touchstone for big and small countries and nations. In our days the humanity is in the processes of intensive and contradictory changes. Hence, we should always be alert and caringly treat our national self-consciousness, statehood, language, culture and national values.

Dear compatriots,

Wherever the Armenians live the fire of love towards the Motherland is inextinguishable in their hearts. Today there is a need of keeping that fire brighter, day by day increasingly warming feelings towards the Motherland, firm handshake, and more practical steps. The important thing is to remain united and not to retreat, to act in solidarity and be resolute.

I once again congratulate you on the occasion of Independence Day. I wish everybody peace and welfare. Let every next anniversary of Independence record new successes and achievements in the life of the Republic of Armenia and the whole Armenians.”
