Meeting with Missing Persons’ Relatives
1 / 1

On July 11 the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan and the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Elinar Vardanyan met with the missing persons’ relatives. Let us note that the meeting has initiated the ‘Armenian Center of Health and Education’ NGO, partner of the International Red Cross Committee, and within the framework of that cooperation it works with the families of the missing freedom fighters, soldiers and civilians lost since the Karabakh conflict.

During the meeting the participants discussed the problems of the support shown to the missing persons’ search and their families. The attendees raised the issue of necessity to adopt a draft law on recognition of missing persons’ status. It was noted that in the parliament of the previous convocation a draft law on a Missing Person had been put into circulation, which however, had been withdrawn.

Naira Zohrabyan and Elinar Vardanyan promised to meet in the nearest future with the representatives of the RA Ministry of Defense for discussing the problems and clarify their position on the problems requiring legislative regulation. They expressed readiness to meet and discuss again the proposals and problems of missing persons’ relatives.
