1 / 1

On July 10 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received Katherine Leach, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the RA.

Welcoming the Ambassador the NA President highly assessed the relations of Armenia with the United Kingdom and highlighted the rapprochement of relations and their further strengthening, noting that the Armenian-British inter-parliamentary ties were established in 1992, when in the the United Kingdom Parliament the British-Armenian co-party Parliamentary Group was set up. Galust Sahakyan spotlighted the cooperation between the parliamentarians of the two countries on the international parliamentary platforms.

Thanking for the reception, Ambassador Katherine Leach has noted that the UK attaches a great importance to the cooperation development between the parliaments. In her word, the Armenian parliamentarians’ visit to Great Britain during these days will give a new impetus to the inter-parliamentary relations and will strengthen the interaction.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the regional problems, the Armenian-Turkish relations, Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia-EU cooperation and emphasized the development of trade-economic ties. The NA expressed hope that the British parliamentarians would take part in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide to be held in Yerevan in April 2015.
