On July 1 the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan attended the solemn event dedicated to the 96^th anniversary of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office and Day of Prosecutor’s Office Employee. The RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, for proper performance of official duties and on the occasion of Day of Prosecutor’s Office Employee, awarded the RA NA Medal of Honour to Vahagn Muradyan, Head of the Investigation Department of Especially Important Cases at the RA Prosecutor General’s Office, First Class Counselor of Justice, the NA diploma to Sasun Khachatryan, Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Malatia-Sebastia Administrative District in Yerevan and the NA President’s Letter of Appreciation to Araik Petrosyan, N 2 Military Garrison Prosecutor, Second Class Counselor of Justice.

Congratulating the attendees on the occasion of the professional holiday, the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan said:

Let me join the congratulations and wishes, which as words of appraisal and assessment, at the same time suppose greater responsibility in your activity.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia has an important role in the country’s public life. During recent years several generations of the system employees have been changed, but the Prosecutor’s Office has always remained adherent to its best traditions. At the same time, in accordance with the modern requirements, the authorities and functions of the Prosecutor’s Office have been clarified. Today the system of the Prosecutor’s Office is adequately developing, keeping an ear out for the challenges of the time. The rapidly developing world obliges operative response, and in that respect the Prosecutor’s Office is not an exception. The employees of the system successfully combine their knowledge and experience, the modern methods and technologies, the yesterday’s and today’s traditions and achievements of the system, solving the existing problems with dignity.

The maintenance of legality, provision of the society’s security, reliable protection of  citizens' and state's legal interests and rights and the unreserved fight against criminality is conditioned by your adherence to principles and consistent work.

Dear friends,

Today the Prosecutor’s Office with its activity intensively takes part in the formation of public relations, where a great role is reserved to the remedial function of the Prosecutor’s Office. Human being, his dignity, the fundamental rights and freedoms, the higher values of a rule-of-law country, and the provision of this constitutional principle is also considerably conditioned by the work of the system of the Prosecutor’s Office. The Prosecutor’s Office and the citizen should act as allies in fight against harmful phenomena, which are not only inappropriate to our society and our system of values, but they serve as an obstacle for the state progress.

Your effective and professional activities give an opportunity to further strengthen the bases of law-governed country and civil society, reach new achievements for the rule of law and social justice.

The cooperation between the system of the National Assembly and the Prosecutor’s Office has also formed traditions in accordance with the creation and improvement of the legislative field.

I would like to assure you that henceforth the parliament is ready to support the initiatives and steps aimed at the legislative improvement of the sphere.
