On March 26 the parliament continued the work of the four-day sittings and passed by voting the draft law “On Amending the RA Law on Fauna” and the package of draft laws “On Amending the RA Law on Taxes” and “On Amending the RA Law on Budgetary System.”

After voting the deputies welcomed the pupils and the teachers of Yerevan Sos Hovsepyan Senior School N 115, who were hosted in the parliament within the framework of the NA Open Doors Programme and were following the NA sitting.

Then the deputies in the first reading continued debating the package of bills “On Amending the RA Law on Education,” “On Amending the RA Law on Preliminary Specialized and Secondary Specialized Education” and “On Amending the RA Law on Higher Education and Post Graduate Specialized Education.”

The Secretary of the ANC faction Aram Manukyan highlighted the provision of free competition in the educational system. The deputy positively evaluated the steps taken of the RA Ministry of Education and Science in the improvement of the quality of the secondary specialized system.

In his final speech the RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan touched upon the deputies’ questions and gave clarifications.

The NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan noted that he had proposed to the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Youth and Sport to organize parliamentary hearings relating to the issue, where all concerned sides would take part and debate the raised issues.

The deputies in the first reading debated another legislative package regarding the sphere of education authored by the government, which presented Armen Ashotyan. He answered the deputies’ questions, which referred to the provisions of the submitted package, the educational fees in the system, the control of the educational programmes, etc.

The member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Youth and Sport Karine Atshemyan presented the endorsement of the Committee.

The NA deputies Vahram Baghdasaryan and Aram Manukyan delivered speeches on the package under debate.

The debate of the item will resume at March 27 NA sitting.

In accordance with the law NA Rules of Procedure, at the last hour of the Wednesday sitting the members of the government answered the deputies’ questions.
