On April 30 at the press conference convened in the RA National Assembly the Head of the RA NA Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Davit Harutyunyan and members of delegation Arpine Hovhannisyan and Naira Karapetyan summed up the results of works of the second part of the PACE session held on April 22-26 in Strasbourg, where from the RA NA Delegation took part Davit Harutyunyan, Arpine Hovhannisyan, Levon Zurabyan, Naira Karapetyan and Zaruhi Postnajyan.

The Head of the Delegation Davit Harutyunyan informed the journalists that the PACE Bureau meeting had been held, where the report by the Ad-hoc Committee on the Observation Mission about the presidential elections held in Armenia had been discussed. It had been approved by the Bureau. The Head of the Delegation noted that positive and critical speeches had been sounded on the report.

During the discussion held on the works of the PACE Bureau and the Standing Committee the Head of the RA NA Delegation Davit Harutyunyan delivered a speech, and though Arpine Hovhannisyan, Zaruhi Postanjyan and Levon Zurabyan have been registered for delivering a speech, the texts of the speeches had been enclosed to the protocol. Davit Harutyunyan clarified that in accordance with the functioning order during the report of the activity of the Standing Committee the results of the presidential elections held in Armenia had been submitted beforehand. During the PACE session Davit Harutyunyan and Levon Zurabyan addressed questions in written form to the moderator of the Committee of Ministers.

The next item, which distinguished the Head of the Delegation, was the report “Post-monitoring Dialogue with Turkey,” in connection with which the prepared speech-texts by Davit Harutyunyan and Zaruhi Postanjyan had been enclosed to the protocol. Davit Harutyunyan detailed that the mentioned report had been distinguished with rather unsuccessful formulations, which by the efforts of our delegation was succeeded to withdraw from the report. In particular, they referred to the Armenian-Turkish relations and the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

Davit Harutyunyan also said that delegation members Arpine Hovhannisyan and Naira Karapetyan had submitted two recommendations, which despite the obstacles caused by the Turkish Delegation, had been included in the resolution being part of the report. The recommendations related to the protection of the national and religious minorities’ rights in Turkey.

The members of the delegation also took part in the works of the legal, social committees and free discussion, where Zaruhi Postanjyan delivered a speech on the RA presidential elections, and the members of the Azerbaijani delegation continued their anti-Armenian campaign, and the Assembly President’s rather rough response followed to it.

The Delegation also took part in the event dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, which took place in the Republican Square of Strasbourg and the ecumenical ceremony held in the church.

The members of the Delegation also answered the journalists’ questions.
