On October 14 the Speaker of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan received the deputy of RA National Assembly, the head of the RA NA delegation in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Karen Avagyan, who arrived in Artsakh on a short working visit.

At the meeting, expressing satisfaction in connection with the activities of the committee of Artsakh-Armenia inter-parliamentary cooperation, the NA Speaker noted: “During the recent years the cooperation of our two parliaments is not limited any more only by the protocol meetings, which are usually carried out twice in a year in Stepanakert and Yerevan. Retaining this tradition, at the same time in between, we also have thematic debates at other levels and formats, which in fact, concretize our cooperation.”

During the talk the sides touched upon the process of the Karabakh settlement and in that respect the role of the parliamentary diplomacy. In particular, the sides highlighted in that direction the importance of the activity of the delegations of RA National Assembly in the international instances and the necessity of more enlivening it in future.

In that context Karen Avagyan presented the character of the work done and the themes of the delegation headed by him in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and underlined the conduct of the consultations with the Artsakh authorities on certain agenda issues, including the National Assembly and through them the importance of specifying the orientations of principle, which, to his conviction, will give new content to his and his counterparts’ activities.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the NKR National Assembly Vahram Atanesyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Armen Sargsyan, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the NKR National Assembly Sergey Ghazaryan and the permanent representative of the NKR National Assembly in RA National Assembly Karen Topchyan attended the meeting.
