RA NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan sent a message on the occasion of the International Day of Democracy:

“Dear compatriots,

I heartily congratulate you on the occasion of the Day of Democracy.

It is already the third year that there is a special day in the international calendar for democracy, and it is not accidental. Democracy is an opportunity by which the countries and peoples are able to occupy a place in the environment of the civilized community of the world. It is also a means to solve the existing problems in the process of building the statehood and formation of the civil society.

Armenia continues to take small, but escalating and non-interrupting steps in the establishment and strengthening of all components of democracy in the country. The path to be passed is long, but not endless, moreover that the authorities of the country have necessary political will and wish for overcoming it.

Again congratulating as a holiday still a baby, but as a phenomenon established long ago and as an understanding, which became as a landmark, you on the Day of Democracy, I wish to have a really established civil society in our country, and each citizen to feel the pride of being a member of that society and at the same time, the obligation. Our country and the people have created its preconditions.”
