On May 12 President of the National Assembly Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan received Chairman of Iran-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of Majlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Mr. Arsalan Fathipur.
At the beginning of the talk Mr. Fathipur conveyed his warm greetings of his IRI counterpart Mr. Larijani to the head of the Armenian Parliament and re-confirmed on the latter’s name the invitation of the official visit to Iran, which was sent to the President of the National Assembly. Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan expressed his gratitude for that invitation, then the sides touched upon the details of organizing the visit.
During the meeting Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the role of the parliaments of Armenia and Iran in the development of bilateral relations. Both sides agreed to discuss the possible steps to be taken by the legislators in strengthening the cooperation. In this context the interlocutors touched upon the programmes of cooperation in the spheres of trade, economy, transport, communication, as well as in other spheres. They also discussed regional and international security issues.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of IRI to Armenia Mr. Seyed Ali Saghaeyan participated in the meeting.
