1 / 2

The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a closing speech at the debate of the draft law on the RA 2026 State Budget. The Prime Minister first touched upon the logic of the budget debates in Parliament these days, spoke about the statements and accusations made by opposition figures regarding domestic and foreign political processes, and presented counterarguments.

"The Republic of Armenia in 2025 is a country that is able to face its problems and its destiny," the RA Prime Minister underlined.

Regarding the views expressed on the idea of peace, Nikol Pashinyan stated: "Peace is that no soldier has been killed in a shootout within the borders of Armenia for 1 year and 8 months. Peace is that people have not heard the sound of gunfire in border settlements for three months. Peace is that a train has entered Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan..."

The Prime Minister touched upon a number of domestic and foreign political realities and noted that if they were not in power as of 2018, if someone else was, the Republic of Armenia would not exist today. “This is a mission, and we are carrying out this mission. We were holding elections in 2021, I said, if our people decide to shoot me, I will stand silently under the wall. I am saying it now. But if we were confused to some extent then, now we are confident. Now I am confident in the path we have taken,” Nikol Pashinyan noted.

Speaking about the Government programmes, the Head of the Executive stated: “Our first and most important programme was to ensure the sustainability of the Republic of Armenia. We are ensuring the sustainability of the Republic of Armenia as a sovereign state.”

According to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, what is happening is a historical turning point; Armenia has never had such an opportunity to be a state in history, to be prosperous, happy, independent and secure. “We are not talking about the last 5 years. We are talking about the last 500 years,” Nikol Pashinyan noted and added. “We have solved this problem by going through very bitter, cruel ordeals. We have gained this independence at the cost of the lives of our martyrs.” According to the Head of the Executive, Armenia is experiencing the best period in its history of the last 500 years.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia spoke in detail about the positive developments in economic policy, financial growth trends, balanced development of the regions, the favorable environment created for the business sector, and reforms implemented in many areas.

The debate of the draft budget has been interrupted for at least 4 days. MPs and factions can submit their proposals within 24 hours.
