On September 12, the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection convened an extraordinary sitting.
The draft law on Amendments to the Law on Approval of Annual and Comprehensive Programmes for the Restoration, Preservation, Reproduction and Use of Lake Sevan Ecosystem authored by the Government was debated in the second reading and endorsed. The RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan presented it.
The initiative proposes to set the maximum annual water release from Lake Sevan at up to 200 million m3 by 2025.
Due to weather conditions, the speaker highlighted the need for additional water intake from Lake Sevan.
The item of electing Deputy Chair of the Committee was also on the agenda of the sitting.
Deputy Davit Danielyan was elected Deputy Chair of the Committee by the proposal of the NA Civil Contract Faction.
