It is proposed to specify the status of the RA Border Electronic Management Information System (BEMIS) and to create an opportunity for providing more systematic regulations.
The National Assembly debated the addendum being proposed to the law on State Border at the regular sitting, presented by the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Tigran Dadunts.
It is proposed to establish by law that the BEMIS system operates for the purpose of properly implementing border control, to provide by law what data sets should be included and reflected in the system. It is planned to establish the general conditions for accessing the system and entering data, as well as to clarify the scope of issues subject to regulation at the sub-legislative level regarding the system.
The adoption of a sub-legislative act is designed within a six-month period after the law enters into force.
The law will define the purposes for which data processed in this system can be used. This will limit the Government in determining the list of the state bodies and organizations that have the right to use the BEMIS system.
The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Armen Khachatryan highlighted the adoption of the bill and noted that the Committee endorsed it.
During the debates, the issue of personal data protection, the expansion or reduction of the list of bodies with access to the BEMIS system, and the possibility of citizens having access to information about themselves in the system were addressed.
