The article establishing criminal liability for evading military exercises clarifies the forms of evasion. The amount of liability for evading military exercises in conjunction with a number of unlawful circumstances is tightened. The powers of the Military Police specify that the Military Police shall not only prevent and suppress crime, but also detect and expose it. It shall be authorized to assist military commissariats in the process of organizing military registration of citizens, compulsory or voluntary conscription, and reserve training events.
The proposed amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and the Law on Military Police were debated in the first reading at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security. The issue was presented by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Hrachya Sargsyan.
During the Q&A session, the organization of training exercises, improvement of the process, methods of notifying citizens, and electronic notification capabilities in military commissariats were discussed.
Highlighting the importance of holding the 25-day training exercises, the deputy of the Armenia Faction Gegham Manukyan spoke about the problems existing in this process and the importance of solving them.
The issue was endorsed by the Committee.
