We expect the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to continue to take all necessary measures in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law to protect the captives and other held persons. The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Rustam Bakoyan said this at the meeting with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Armenia Daphnee Maret.

The members of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Tigran Parsilyan and Marina Ghazaryan also participated in the meeting held on February 3.

It was noted that the employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross regularly visit our compatriots being held in Baku. “In my opinion, your organization, being a neutral and independent mediator, while also maintaining confidentiality, needs to communicate and exchange information with the Azerbaijani authorities,” Rustam Bakoyan expressed such an opinion.

During the meeting, issues regarding the s periodic visits of the ICRC to Armenian prisoners of war and other persons being held in Azerbaijan, criminal trials initiated against our compatriots, and other humanitarian issues were discussed.
