The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted the Law on Audiovisual Media on July 16, 2020. However, during its implementation, the necessity to revise some regulations, as well as to provide for new regulations, emerged.
At the sitting of January 15 of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Audiovisual Media was debated in the first reading.
As presented by the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the draft law proposes to review the function of the regulatory body, which concerns the control of compliance with technical standards of audiovisual programmes.
According to the key rapporteur, the proposed regulations will practically eliminate misunderstandings and ensure the principle of legal certainty.
The revised draft has been endorsed.
The Committee members honored the memory of the deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction Mher Sahakyan with a minute of silence.
