On November 7, the Deputy Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Arusyak Julhakyan met with the Representative to the International Criminal Court Danya Chaikel and Advocacy Director of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court Virginie Amato.
Arusyak Julhakyan presented the works done in Armenia after the ratification of the Statute of the International Criminal Court. She informed that by the RA Prime Minister’s decision a programme of relevant activities, events and schedule was defined. The Deputy Chair of the Committee noted that the draft law on Cooperation of the Republic of Armenia with the International Criminal Court has already put into circulation. The amendments being stipulated in the Criminal, Criminal Procedure and Penitentiary Codes are under debate.
During the meeting issues aimed at the development of the capacities of the investigators, prosecutors, judges, civil society were discussed. The importance and necessity of the training programmes were underscored.
The representatives to the International Criminal Court spoke about the training programme and results held with the civil society recently.
Reference was made to a number of issues related to raise awareness on the International Criminal Court.
