The aim of the draft is to increase the level of confidentiality regime in state and local self-government bodies, organizations and legal entities, to prevent possible violations in this sphere, and to eliminate conditions conducive to the leakage of confidential information.
The legislative initiative on Making Addenda and Amendments to the Code of the Republic of Armenia on Administrative Offenses was presented by the Deputy Director of the National Security Service (NSS) Andranik Simonyan. It is proposed to supplement the Code with a new Article 206.20.
It is expected that as a result of the adoption of the draft, the National Security Service will more effectively carry out its function of interdepartmental oversight of the confidentiality regime. The adoption of the draft will be an incentive for organizations, legal entities and departments and officials responsible for ensuring the confidentiality regime to ensure it, at the same time it will be an additional preventive measure in order not to repeat the discovered defects and violations in the future, to significantly reduce their volume.
Vahagn Aleksanyan presented the endorsement of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security on the draft.
The draft was debated at the sitting of the National Assembly on September 10.
