1 / 3

Taking into consideration the potential of solar energy in Armenia, the dynamics and prospects of the development of the field, joining the International Solar Alliance will create an opportunity for our country to be involved in the international processes of solar energy development, get acquainted with the latest advanced technologies of the field development, and present its own successful experience. The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan stated this while presenting the draft law on Ratifying the Framework Agreement on the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) at the NA regular sitting.

The purpose of the Agreement is to develop solar energy through the integration of joint efforts, technologies, innovations, financing.

The Framework Agreement was signed by our country on November 16, 2023. Currently, 118 states have signed the Agreement.

The RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan inquired about the prospect of installing energy storage in Armenia. In response to the question, Hakob Vardanyan noted that the Government is developing provisions at the level of sub-legislative acts, which will make possible the development of the storage market, because it is not possible to settle the issue only through subsidies, market mechanisms are necessary.

In his co-report, the member of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Narek Ghahramanyan spoke about the endorsement of the Committee.
