The Head of the RA NA Armenia-Sweden Friendship Group Hripsime Grigoryan met with the Head of the Department for Eastern Europe of Swedish Foreign Ministry Björn Linderfalk and the Desk Officer for South Caucasus Axel Lundell on May 4.
The Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson was present at the meeting.
Welcoming the guests in the Parliament, Hripsime Grigoryan presented the current security situation in the region.
The Head of the Friendship Group spoke about the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan’s illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor, particularly underscoring the problems caused by the lack of food and other primary products. Regarding the opening of the Corridor, the deputy highlighted the pressure of the international community on Azerbaijan.
In the context of ensuring security and stability in the region, Hripsime Grigoryan underlined the importance of the activity of the EU Civil Observation Mission in Armenia. The deputy also spoke about the imperative of sending the international fact-finding mission to the Lachin Corridor.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the deepening of the Armenian-Swedish relations in bilateral and multilateral formats. In the context of the interaction of legislative bodies, the activity of friendship groups was considered as a key issue.
