Members of the Armenia-Croatia Friendship Group Meet with Delegation Led by Foreign Minister of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman

Croatia has been a co-author of the Resolution on the Prevention of Genocide with Armenia and a number of other countries in the UN. At the very moment our sisters and brothers are in Artsakh under the ethnic cleansing, in the future – also probably under the danger of genocide.

The Head of Armenia-Croatia Friendship Group Hayk Mamijanyan said about this during the meeting with the members of the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman.

Thanking the Foreign Minister for the visit, Hayk Mamijanyan underlined the role and the mission of the parliamentary Friendship Groups.

According to the Head of the Friendship Group, there is certain cooperation with the legislators of Croatia in the work of Armenia and the Armenian Parliament regarding the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan. Hayk Mamijanyan noted that he presented his colleague of Croatia details on the existing situation from the first days. He stressed that Armenia greatly highlights the stable development and deepening of bilateral relations with Croatia in bilateral and multi-lateral formats.

Noting that this is his first visit to Armenia, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman evaluated the bilateral parliamentary diplomatic work. He expressed hope that with joint efforts and consistent implementation of mutual agreements the diplomatic, parliamentary cooperation of the two countries will be succeeded to raise to a qualitative new level.

Underscoring the necessity of the establishment of peace and security in the region, the Foreign Minister of Croatia highlighted the protection of human rights, the rule of law and mutual respect.

At the meeting, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan valued the role of the Observation Mission of the European Union in Armenia. According to him, the deployment of the Observation Mission of the European Union will have positive influence for two more years, preventing the possible escalations. Arman Yeghoyan also referred to the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners of war being held in Azerbaijan.

The meeting took place on February 7, where the members of the Friendship Group Arman Yeghoyan, Hripsime Hunanyan, Arusyak Manavazyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to the Republic of Croatia Ashot Hovalimyan and the Head of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Margaryan took part.
