“34 years have passed since the devastating earthquake of 1988, but there are still families living in shacks in the disaster zone,” the MP Hasmik Hakobyan expressed concern during the NA-Government Q&A session and was interested in the implementation of the programmes to provide housing in the disaster zone.

The programme of housing provision started in 2008 is in its final stage. The group included 5419 families and only 28 families did not receive proper housing or funding. Those 28 families are residents of Jradzor community of Shirak marz. Due to the construction of the Kaps reservoir, there is a plan to relocate the village. “Along with the process of relocating the village and building a new settlement, the issue of providing housing for those 28 families will be settled,” the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan noted in response to Hasmik Hakobyan’s question.
