“The Standing Committee on Health Care received a letter from the Armenian Association of Neurologists, the Armenian Association of Hematology and Oncology, and non-governmental organizations engaged in the protection of patients’ interests, to organize a discussion on the control of circulation of counterfeit medical products in Armenia. Issues related to the proper storage and transportation of drugs and their control, legislative obstacles and existing gaps are always the focus of attention,” the Committee Chair Narek Zeynalyan noted. The discussion was held on November 25. The representatives of the Ministry of Health, Health and Labor Inspection body, the MPs and the experts participated in the discussion.
The Heads of the medical associations expressed their concern about the import of medicines in different ways. The existence of an appropriate legislative framework, which will provide an opportunity to control the pharmaceutical market, identifying the circulation of low-quality, counterfeit and expired medical products as much as possible. Issues related to the development of effective mechanisms to control the pharmaceutical market were also discussed, awareness of citizens was highlighted.
Summarizing the working discussion, the Committee Chair Narek Zeynalyan noted that as a result of daily activities, legislative changes, regulations, it is necessary to ensure the availability and high quality of medicines in the Republic of Armenia.
