“Although we do not take part in the activities taking place in the parliament hall, we take an active part in other parliamentary fronts, as well as in international meetings,” the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, member of the With Honor Faction Taguhi Tovmasyan said during the briefing with journalists on October 10. She also informed that she, as the Committee Chair, sent various reports and letters to international partners, starting with the brutal killings of captives and ending with the records of war crimes of Azerbaijan.
Referring to the issue of the future of Artsakh, the Committee Chair noted that Artsakh has no future in Azerbaijan, and according to her, no Artsakh citizen can safely live within Azerbaijan, with the protection of his rights. “It is impossible, it is a fallacy, and we should not allow such a thing to happen,” Taguhi Tovmasyan emphasized.
Answering the journalist’s question about how she imagines the negotiations between Stepanakert and Baku, the Committee Chair noted that she does not imagine such a thing in any way: “If Artsakh is an unrecognized republic, how do we imagine their status in relations with international partners? Therefore, first of all, Artsakh should be recognized, and then, after having a legal status, it will be possible to sit at the negotiation table as such.
In the MP’s opinion, the Republic of Armenia is obliged to represent the interests of Artsakh.
