During the National Assembly-Government Q&A held on October 5, the MP Lilit Stepanyan, noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia repeatedly stated that one of the most effective ways to avoid border incidents of Azerbaijan would be the implementation of international peacekeeping mechanisms, asked Ararat Mirzoyan whether our department has taken any substantive steps in this direction.
“There is a general perception, including among international roles, that only the elimination of the consequences of aggression, the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and the conclusion of a general peace treaty may not create sufficient guarantees and additional guarantees may be required. For example, the presence of any international monitoring, observation or any other mechanism on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is required. This is one of the other tools of the toolkit that is being discussed,” the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan said.
