RA Prime Minister: We must protect the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Armenia by all possible means
1 / 1

The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the opening of regional infrastructures during his speech at the NA sitting held on September 13, noting: “Azerbaijan, distorting the statement of November 9, 2020, talks about having a corridor through the territory of Armenia. Our position is the following, we are not going to provide anyone with a corridor through the territory of Armenia, but we accept and are even interested in the opening and deblockading of roads through the RA territory, with the logic that all the countries of the region, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, can use those roads.”

Referring to some nuances of the created situation, the Prime Minister noted that after the 44-day war in 2020, Azerbaijan has stated several times that if it sees that the RA Armed Forces are gathering a certain potential, which, in its words, may threaten Azerbaijan, it will implement pre-offensive actions. Although we have declared, and it is recorded in official documents, that we are carrying out reforms of the Armed Forces not to invade or conquer territories, but to preserve and protect the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, nevertheless, at the stages when we focus on the reforms of the army and the Armed Forces, such provocations are carried out to hinder the process with the announced agenda,” Nikol Pashinyan underlined.

As an important feature, he emphasized the fact that we had heavy losses as a result of the 44-day war, but the Republic of Armenia was not broken as a result of that war. According to the Prime Minister, it is obvious that despite the global difficulties, Armenia has clear economic successes, and Azerbaijan is aimed at breaking the economic dynamics of Armenia with this.

Nikol Pashinyan also referred to the question of whether this is the result of the peace agenda, and what is happening is not a failure of the peace agenda. “We, adopting the peace agenda, understand that it does not depend on just one entity. With these actions, Azerbaijan wants and actually torpedoes the peace agenda. Peace is the environment in which the Republic of Armenia can develop, peace is the environment that can ensure the security of the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh,” the Prime Minister stressed.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, we must protect the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Armenia by all possible means, strive for peace by all possible means, trying to bring our ideas closer together. The Prime Minister also highlighted the improvement of mechanisms and obligations in allied and security relations.
