The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) nominated the candidacies of Liza Grigoryan, Karen Tumanyan and Liparit Melikjanyan for the vacant positions of the judge of the judicial composition of the examination of the civil cases of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation. The parliament debated the issue of the election of the candidate nominated for the vacant position of the judicial composition of the examination of the civil cases of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation at the extraordinary sitting on June 27.

The SJC member Davit Khachaturyan presented the biographical data and passed path of Liza Grigoryan, Karen Tumanyan and Liparit Melikjanyan.

Liza Grigoryan in her speech noted that the speeches of the judges’ candidates document the cooperation of the three powers and the general mission of the state – to serve the Republic of Armenia. The candidate presented his ideas how the three branches of the power shall cooperate and how shall the judge of the Court of Cassation work and bear responsibility for the problems put before the judicial power/

The other candidate, Karen Tumanyan, highlighted the provision of the fair judicial examination right, which will give an opportunity to every person to raise the dispute on his/her violated or supposed violated rights. According to the candidate, before the revolution our country has almost no judicial power. “The justice should be transparent, accessible, visible and certainly, reliable,” the rapporteur underlined.

Karen Tumanyan expressed readiness to invest his knowledge and experience for the benefit of the development of the judicial power.

The candidate for the judge of the judicial composition of the examination of the civil cases of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation Liparit Melikjany6an noted that in his speech he will abstain from making legal analyses leaving impression of lecture on the independence of courts, judicial power or in general the legal phenomena. According to Liparit Melkijanyan, during this period, the SJC fulfilled with honour the mission laid before it by law. “I can affirm that no legal act has been delayed at least one day from the established schedule,” he underscored.

The candidate added that during this period they have been consistent for the implementation of the judicial reforms.
