Vice-President of Senate of Parliament of Czech Reoublic: “I am proud that the Czech Republic has recognized the Armenian Genocide”

On May 18, the First Vice-President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jiří Růžička and the members of the delegation led by him who arrived in Armenia visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex accompanied by Hakob Arshakyan, the Vice President of the National Assembly, and Artur Hovhannisyan, the Head of the Friendship Group Armenia-Czech Republic.

The Czech and Armenian legislators laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and observed a one-minute of silence to honor the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

The guests visited the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, got acquainted with the documents certifying the Genocide.

“I am in Armenia for the first time. After visiting the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, I am prouder that the Czech Republic has recognized the Armenian Genocide. I would recommend the other states to recognize it too, as what happened to the Armenian people more than 100 years ago is an international issue. Unfortunately, such crimes are still going on in the world and we must fight them together,” the Vice-President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic said a fter the tour.

At the end of the visit, Jiří Růžička left a note in the Memory Book of Honorable Guests.

It should be noted that the Chairperson of the Standing Senate Commission on Media of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Václav Chaloupek, the Vice-Chairperson David Smoljak and the member of the Commission Marek Hilšer are in the delegation.
