At the extraordinary sitting convened on March 9, the National Assembly debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Addendum to the Law on the Reduction and Prevention of Health Damage Caused by the Use of Tobacco Products and their Substitutes authored by the Government.

The First RA Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan noted that it is proposed to clarify the concept “substitute for tobacco products.”

The First Deputy Minister noted that taking into account the availability of new products in the Armenian market, it was necessary to review the concept “substitute for tobacco products” and to add the word “substance” after the word “solution” in Article 1.1.6 of the above-mentioned law.

Aram Vardevanyan presented the position of the Armenia Faction. He informed that the faction will abstain from voting on the draft law.

The position of the Civil Contract Faction on the proposal was presented by the Head of the faction Hayk Konjoryan. He said that the faction will vote for the draft law.

The With Honor Faction did not express a position.

As a result of voting, the draft law was adopted in the first reading.

According to the NA decision, the debate of the draft law in the second reading will be carried out by a special procedure, after its adoption in the first reading, within 24 hours.
