The members of the family of the servicemen, who sacrificed their life during the defense of the Motherland compensation is given by the Fund of Compensation for the Damages Caused to the Servicemen’s Life or Health. It is set by law that in case of the serviceman dying or being recognized as unknown absent the serviceman’s wife, children and parents are considered beneficiary.
16 cases have become known to the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, when the persons who have sacrificed their life for the Motherland, do not have wife, children and parents. “No compensation has been given to any member of the family concerning these servicemen,” the deputy has underlined and has added that they have sister, brother, grandmother grandfather. Hayk Sargsyan proposes to amend the law on Compensation for the Damages Caused to the Servicemen’s Life or Health during the Defense of the Motherland, according to which, recognize beneficiary the brothers, sisters, grandmothers and grandfathers of the fallen servicemen, who have no wife, children and parents. “Our duty and obligation is also to compensate concerning these compatriots, and pay these sums to their family members,” the rapporteur noted. According to him, the sum to be allocated will be equally distributed. If the fallen serviceman has two brothers, each of them will get one-time 5mln AMD and 100.000 AMD during upcoming twenty years every month.
Hayk Sargsyan proposes also to recognize beneficiary the persons being married the fallen serviceman in fact, but not registered with another amendment.
In his co-report, the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan noted that the initiative was revised on the basis of the Government proposals.
The member of the NA Standing (Head) Committee on Defense and Security Gurgen Melkonyan presented the endorsement of the Committee.
In their speeches the deputies welcomed the initiative and urged his colleagues to vote for it.
The draft law was debated in the first reading at January 19 NA sitting.
