On October 21, the RA NA President Alen SImonyan met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt.
The Head of Parliament congratulated Margareta Cederfelt on being elected OSCE PA President, and wished him fruitful work. Alen Simonyan highly assessed the role of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue. The NA President underlined the important role assumed by the parliamentary diplomacy in the modern structure of the international relations.
Speaking about the main issues of the establishment of the security and long-lasting peace of the region, the problems of the deliberate targeting of the peaceful civilian population and the civil infrastructures during the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the urgent repatriation of prisoners of war and kept civilians were touched upon.
In terms of democracy Margareta Cederfelt highly evaluated the snap parliamentary elections held in Armenia in June 2021, adding that the complete report of their structure on them would be ready soon. She stressed the importance of democracy in the election and post-election all processes.
