At October 20 regular sitting, the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs debated in the first reading the draft law on Ratifying the Agreement on International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to Be Used for Such Carriage (ATP). The document was signed in 1970, and by now 50 countries joined it, also including the EEU all countries.

The goal of the Agreement is to provide the quality of the perishable cargos during the international carriage, particularly the foodstuffs, to improve the inter-state cooperation in the process of the carriage of perishable foodstuffs, as well as to develop the international trade. The main requirements of the international carriage of the perishable cargos and the carriage conditions, as well as the requirements to be introduced to the equipment designed for their carriage.

It is expected that joining the Agreement will facilitate the process of the perishable cargos, and the Armenian cargo transportation organizations will get an opportunity to carry out the process of checking the compliance of the perishable cargo carriage equipment on the territory of Armenia and receive a relevant sample certificate.

Joining the document will promote the development of the production sphere of the foodstuffs in the republic and the increase of the export volumes.

The draft law was endorsed by the Committee.

It is designed to hold the debate during the regular sittings to be convened on November 16.
