At PACE Plenary Session Two Reports of Interest for Armenia Discussed
1 / 7

At October 12 press conference the members of the RA NA Delegation to PACE presented details about the works of PACE regular plenary session held in Strasbourg on September 27-30.

The Head of the RA NA Delegation Ruben Rubinyan informed that two reports of certain interest for the Armenian side were discussed. The first one related to the snap parliamentary elections held in Armenia, which was assessed competitive and well organized. “In fact, these are the second national elections of the Republic of Armenia that are highly valued by the PACE observers,” Ruben Rubinyan said.

The second report referred to the humanitarian consequences of the Karabakh conflict. almost all concerns and items were in report prepared for several months, which Armenia would like to include in the report. “There it is fixed that the war is a violation of the obligations assumed by the conflicting sides, being a CoE member, and the PACE shall study that issue. The move of the Syrian mercenaries to Karabakh with the support of Turkey and their participation in the war was fixed. It was affirmed and distinctly called on to Azerbaijan to immediately return all Armenian prisoners of war and other kept persons, irrespective of various circumstances or the status which are given to those persons in Azerbaijan,” the Head of the RA NA Delegation noted.

According to Ruben Rubinyan, the dangers threatening the Armenian cultural heritage, the existence of false “Albanian” thesis being spread in Azerbaijan, as well as the hatred speech being used at high level were also touched upon in the report,

The members of the Delegation answered to the journalists’ questions.
