Problems of Servicemen Who Received Disability - at the Centre of Parliamentarians’ Attention
1 / 15

On September 29, on the initiative of the member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Vahagn Aleksanyan servicemen, who were wounded and received disability during the Artsakh 44-day war, visited parliament.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan and deputies from the Civil Contract Faction took part in the meeting.

The servicemen have noted that they come across with obstacles in the full execution of their rights. They highlighted the issue of building ramps in public places. Unlike the servicemen with 1st and 2nd grade disabilities, those with 3rd grade disability are not beneficiaries of Insurance Foundation for Servicemen. The servicemen participant in the meeting considered this issue a problem with demanding immediate solution. The MPs have underlined that all persons with disability in Armenia receive support from the government. Those with 3rd grade have educational, health, labor and other guarantees.

The provision of necessary conditions for full execution of rights to education, labor, social, health issues, free move and other rights and the problems of April four-day war participants were touched upon.

In terms of raising the public awareness, the participants of the discussion highlighted the publicity of information on persons with disabilities.

The MPs promised to be consistent for the solution of the raised problems, and if possible, solve them by law or submit proposals to the responsible bodies in the framework of authority. An agreement was reached to make such meetings continuous.
