Parliament Continues Debate of Electing Member of Corruption Prevention Commission

On September 14, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the regular sittings, debating the issue of electing a member of the Corruption Prevention Commission.

The Secretary of the NA Armenia Faction Artsvik Minasyan highlighted the activities of one of the institutes of the anti-corruption policy – the Corruption Prevention Commission. According to him, the international experience shows that the political opposition should play a central role in the effective fight against corruption, as a restraint ring.

In her final speech, the candidate for the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission Mariam Galstyan thanked the MPs for the interesting, substantive and concerned debate. Referring to Artsvik Minasyan’s concern that the governing wing dominates in the council, the candidate has noted that in her opinion, a balanced approach is shown. Related to the formation of the anti-corruption way of thinking, Mariam Galstyan has stated that all of us can change the reality with our way of living.

The RA NA President Alen Simonyan has informed that a member of the Corruption Prevention Commission is elected by secret ballot and by the majority of the total number of the deputies’ votes.

The Chairman of the Counting Commission of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation Narek Babayan presented the order and the venue of the election for the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission.
