1 / 15

At September 13 NA sitting, during the debate of the report on the activities of the RA Central Electoral Commission (CEC) the representatives of the NA Factions presented viewpoints.

On behalf of the NA With Honor Hayk Mamijanyan touched upon the deputies’ speeches. He spoke about the fight against the system and the results, the consequences of 44-day war and rigged elections.

On behalf of the NA Armenia Faction Aram Vardevanyan referred to the rigged elections from 1996 to 2018 and the snap elections held on 20 June 2021.

On behalf of the NA Civil Contract Faction Vladimir Vardanyan delivered a speech. According to him, every election has peculiarities and shortcomings, and it is noted in the Government programme that continuously an attempt will be made to improve the electoral legislation. Speaking about the legitimacy of the elections, Vladimir Vardanyan recorded that in the history of Armenia until 2008 two approaches were displayed towards the results of the elections: complaint, which had a very vulgar response of the power, afterwards – widespread apathy, and after 2018 – awakening. The RA citizens made their election, they are not in numb yet, they know that the destiny of the country is conditioned by their votes, and we are obliged to respect everybody’s vote.

Stemming from the principle of the political restraint, in his concluding speech the CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan abstained from answering the sounded some political assessments. Regarding the appearing of different posters before the start of the electoral campaign and the facts of not removing them during the post-electoral period, the CEC Chairman noted that he was ready to discuss and find practical mechanism which would give an opportunity to solve those issues.
