Issues on Development of Armenian-Lithuanian Friendly Relations Discussed

On September 7, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Armenia Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė and the Deputy Head of the Mission Vismante Dailidenaite. The NA deputy Anush Begloian also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Committee Chair has highlighted the multi-lateral cooperation between two countries and has underlined that this year turns the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Lithuania: “We wish to more expand and deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation in all spheres of bilateral interest,” Eduard Aghajanyan expressed conviction. According to him, the Armenian-Lithuanian friendly relations are based on democratic and European system of values.

Touching upon the fight against COVID-19, the Committee Chair thanked Lithuania for supporting our country in fight against pandemic, especially taking into consideration the post-war in the region.

The Committee Chair highlighted the call of the Inter-Parliamentary Group members with Armenia to accelerate the return of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages.

Thanking for Committee Chair for the reception, Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė congratulated Eduard Aghajanyan for being elected Committee Chair. He reaffirmed the wish of making closer the relations with Armenia.

The interlocutors also talked about the inter-parliamentary cooperation and the implementation of the joint programmes with the Embassy.

The sides highlighted the necessity of resuming the process of the establishment of full peace and security and its comprehensive solution in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs
