Tribute to Remembrance of Pontian Greek Genocide Victims

After several years from the Armenian Genocide the Ottoman Empire perpetrated genocide against the Pontian Greeks. According to different sources, from 1916 the Greeks’ mass annihilation has begun. On 19 May 1919, the future first President of Republican Turkey Mustafa Kemal, set out to Pontus, the anti-Greek policy reaches its climax. That is why the Pontian Greeks mark on May 19 the anniversary of their genocide.

On the occasion of Remembrance Day, the Head of the NA Armenia-Greece Friendship Group Mkhitar Hayrapetyan visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Armenia Evangelos Tournakis.
