Amendment to RA Land Code
1 / 4

At the sitting convened on May 19, the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local-Self Government, Agriculture and Environment debated the draft law on Amending the RA Land Code in the first reading.

According to the initiative, authored by the deputies Lilit Stepanyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan, Sergey Bagratyan and Nikolay Baghdasaryan, it is proposed to supplement Article 102.1.9: “Land rights are unilaterally terminated and not judicially, only if the land belonging to the state or the community is used for a non-purposeful aim or in a manner not permitted by law or other legal acts. In case of the existence of the mentioned bases, the head of the community makes a decision on recognizing the corresponding land plot as a community property within 15 days, on which he properly notifies to the other side of the contract.”

The authors propose to lease agricultural lands for 49 years, instead of the current 25.

The co-rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan has noted that although, the proposals of the Government have been accepted, the executive body also has its objections regarding the draft law at this moment.

The debate of the draft law was postponed aimed at revising it.
