On April 26, the RA NA Vice President Lena Nazaryan met with the delegation led by the President of the Central American Parliament Carolina Fernández .
The deputies Sos Avetisyan, Sargis Khandanyan, Tatevik Gasparyan and Karen Simonyan attended the meeting.
Welcoming guests, the NA Vice President Lena Nazaryan thanked the members of the delegation for taking part in the commemoration ceremonies in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims . “The Armenian Genocide was recognized and condemned by many countries around the world. There are numerous international structures, political leaders, representatives of cultural, academic, scientific communities which expressed their solidarity to Armenian people, recognizing and condemning one of the most terrible tragedies of the 20th century.”
The Deputy Speaker expressed her gratitude to the Deputy Chair of the Committee on International Relations, included in the delegation, Daniel Ortega, for the statement spread on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide last year which condemned the genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenian people.
The speakers have highlighted the Memorandum of Cooperation to be signed between two parliaments during the meeting which will promote the development of the relations between Armenia and the Central America in different spheres. “The Republic of Armenia will become an observer country in the Parliament of the Central America in the near future,” Carolina Fernández stated.
Lena Nazaryan has informed that there are friendship groups in the NA from the countries of the Central America region - with Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico and Cuba: “I think that it is time to have friendship groups with the countries of Nicaragua and Honduras, too”.
They referred to the 44-day war against Artsakh unleashed by Azerbaijan: the sides highlighted the issue on the immediate return of the Armenian captives.
