IPA CIS Council Meeting and 51st Plenary Session of the Assembly Held

On November 27, the Meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) was held in the video conference format, where the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Member of the RA NA Delegation to the IPA CIS Lena Nazaryan, the members of the delegation Aleksey Sandikov and Anush Begloian.

Representatives of the delegations of the IPA of the CIS Member Nations, the CIS bodies, as well as the international structures took part in the event.

The Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, the Speaker of the RF Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko moderated the Meeting from Tavrichesky Palace of Saint Petersburg.

One of the main themes of the Meeting was the legislative support of the events being undertaken by the CIS Member Nations was in the COVID-19 pandemic issue. The perspectives of the economic integration in the EEU territory and providing their normative-legal issues were also reviewed, problems concerning the preparation of the Observation Mission to the elections to be held in the CIS Member Nations in 2021, the creation of the Experts Council in the spheres of science and education under the IPA CIS, etc were discussed.

On the same day, the 51st Plenary Session of the IPA CIS Council was held, where the parliamentary delegations of the CIS countries took part.

The legislators discussed the draft law of the Convention on Preservation of CIS Cultural Heritage, the Model Labor and Electoral Codes of the CIS Member Nations, as well as a number of model draft laws, which were worked out by the IPA CIS Permanent Commissions.

The Rules of the Procedure on Participation of the Observers to the Activities of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Participant States had been passed by the IPA CIS Council.
