Parliament Convenes Extraordinary Sitting at the Initiative of the Government

On November 19, the RA National Assembly convened an extraordinary sitting at the initiative of the government, having two legislative initiatives on the agenda.


The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan introduced for debate the draft law on Ratifying Letter-Agreement ‘Caucasian Electricity Communication Network II – Armenia-Georgia Transmitter Line/Sub-Stations’ Extension of the Loan Agreement Term Costs and Post-Payment Changed Schedule signed on 1 July 2020.

The parliament in the first reading debated the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status authored by the NA deputy Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.


Let us note that the debate of the draft law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status in the second reading will be carried out by the decision of the National Assembly after passing it in the first reading within twenty-four hours.

The Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan presented the positive position of the RA Government, as well as some recommendations.

As a result of voting, the debated legislative initiatives were passed.


On the same day, the parliament in the second reading debated and passed the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status authored by the NA deputy Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. After passing the draft law in the first reading, it had not been undergone changes in the content.


The RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security endorsed the draft law.


The National Assembly ended the work of the regular sittings.
