RA NA Extraordinary Sitting Convened

On October 27, by the decision of the NA Deputy Speaker the Acting RA NA Speaker Lena Nazaryan, in accordance with Article 100 of the RA Constitution and Article 41 of the constitutional law of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, at the initiative of the Government an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly was convened by the initiator’s established agenda.

The MPs passed a decision on the special procedure of the debate of the agenda items of the extraordinary sitting.

The parliament debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Legal Regime of the Martial Law presented by the RA Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan.

The bill on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Defense and the package of the enclosed presented bills were debated in the first reading.

The bill on Amending the RA Criminal Code presented by Tigran Balayan was also debated in the first reading.

The draft law on Ratifying the International Convention Against Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries presented by the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan was debated. According to the key rapporteur, the Convention was adopted on 4 December 1989: there are 36 member states.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the membership of our country to the Convention.

The MPs by voting passed the debated initiatives.

The parliament will continue the work of the extraordinary sitting on October 28.
